Description:

Assist with unloading, stocking, cleaning, opening, greeting clients, and closing

 

Time Commitment:

1 to 3 hour regular shift per week

 

Days and Times:

Monday through Friday between 3 - 6 pm

 

Families are welcome to volunteer together as a group.

Description:

Various garden tasks according to season, from prepping garden beds, planting, seed starting to weeding, mulching, harvesting and delivering produce to the Cupboard (1010 S. Walnut). Volunteers welcome any of the shifts listed below, come once or join us the whole season! Kids under 12 are welcome with adult supervision.

 

Time Commitment:

From one to two hours once per week (or more if you are fanatics like us!)

 

Days and Times:

2010 Garden group workdays (April 1-November):
Mondays 9am-11am Banneker Garden (time changed due to heat, will return to regular 2:30-4:30 hours September-October)
**FYI Garden Hours will be canceled Monday, July 5th due to MHC's holiday closing**
Tuesdays 5:30pm-7:30pm Crestmont Garden (Cresmont Park)
Wednesday 2:15pm-3pm harvesting for the Crestmont food bike cart at the Crestmont Garden
Wednesday 3:30pm-5:30pm Harmony School Garden (2nd & Woodlawn)
Fridays 9am-10am rotation from Crestmont to Banneker Garden, this Friday June 25th we will meet at the Crestmont Garden, next Friday the 2nd we will meet at the Banneker Garden.

Early Spring Garden Workdates include:
Saturday, February 27th 11am-1pm Crestmont Garden
Tuesday, March 2 3pm-5pm Banneker Garden
Tuesday, March 16 3pm-5pm Harmony Garden
Saturday, March 27th 11am-1pm Banneker Garden

Nutrition Education Volunteer  Back to Top

 

Description:

Organize sample table during pantry hours, help promote nutrition workshops and seminars, research and compile nutritional handout and recipes, organize pantry library, or share your expert knowledge with our clients through your own class. Time Commitment:

1-5 hours per week, according to volunteers schedules

 

Days and Times:

During pantry hours for some activities, other activities according to volunteers schedules.

Shopping/Delivery Volunteer  Back to Top

 

Description:

Assist with selecting the food from the Hoosier Hills Food Bank that MHC provides to patrons. Load food, deliver to MHC, and unload.

 

Time Commitment:

2 - 3 hours per week, every other week

 

Days and Times:

Monday, Wednesday or Thursday. This position begins between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.

 

This position requires heavy lifting.
